We live and work in a high tech world... šŸ“±

We are all crazy blessed šŸ˜‡ to be able to create a money-making businesses from our computers and phones. Right?! šŸ‘©ā€šŸ’»šŸ¤—

Like itā€™s just nuts to think about sometimes. šŸ¤Ŗ

But running a business online means tech issues come up šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø and itā€™s important for us to know how to take care of certain tech troubles šŸ§!

Your screen goes blank. You can close an application. You can't get a file to open. Your download is not downloading! Aaarrrgghhhhh. šŸ˜¤

We get it, we've been there. We know it can be incredibly frustrating. We didn't expect something like this to interrupt our schedule and now we have to drop other things we're doing to address this issue in order to get back to our work flow. šŸ˜

The one thing we've learned though, is #1. not to panic there might be a simple trick to fix it. And #2. to change our mindset about the problem. We view it as a good challenge to conquer. šŸ‘Œ A challenge for us to learn how to troubleshoot a situation and grow from it. Also, if we see someone else having the same issue and we've figured out how to fix it - we can help them! šŸ™Œ

Before taking time out of your busy schedule to call tech support (who wants to do that?!) ā˜Žļø or writing out a long DM explaining what is going on, try these tips first when something comes up! šŸ–„

ā–«ļø First, things first, take a deep breath, it'll all work out! ā–«ļø Slow down and make sure you're reading the instructions (if applicable)

ā–«ļø Double check all the info you entered to make sure there's no typos

ā–«ļø Do any of your apps or devices need to be updated?

ā–«ļø Try logging out and logging back in

ā–«ļø Restart the app or device

ā–«ļø If itā€™s a browser issue, clear the cache and/or history, then restart your computer, OR try a different browser

ā–«ļø Check if your internet is having a connection failure

ā–«ļø If it seems to be the wifi, try restarting your modem

ā–«ļø Try opening the fie in a different app like trying Word if the file looks funny in Google docs

ā–«ļø Try completely downloading the file rather than opening it up in an app or browser

ā–«ļø Try different ways or processes of doing things - ie. how else can you open this link that seems to not be working? Maybe rather than clicking on it, copy it first and then paste into your browser. ā–«ļø Google all the things or look for answers on YouTube

ā–«ļø Remember, think of it as a good little challenge. Once you figure it out for yourself, you will be so proud you did it and that you learned from it! šŸ„³

Sometimes these simple steps will actually take the same time (maybe less, maybe a little more) ā° compared to sending an email and waiting for a response back with assistance. šŸ‘©ā€šŸ’»šŸ’Œ Who has 24-42 hours to wait for a reply when we can possibly google it ourselves?! šŸ˜

Now, of course, we cannot solve everything! Some technical issues can be completely out of our control. šŸ›  So if nothing is working and you reach out to someone for help, be sure to give them as much info as possible (ie. error codes & screenshots) and be very specific about your process so they can help you quickly! šŸš€šŸ¤“

And one last little extra credit of good advice is to make sure you are backing up your hard drive! We use Backblaze and it backs up our computer drive along with external drives. šŸ’¾

What did we miss? Do you have any tech tips to share that you've learned over the years of running a business from your computer?! šŸ’¬ Shoot us an email, we'd love to add to our list to help other coaches too. šŸ‘ šŸ“Œ If these tips helped, make sure to SAVE this or PIN it for later when you're experiencing a glitch!
