We see them everywhere, but WHY use them?! Simply put... Because they are a fairly easy to use tool 🛠 to get your posts seen by MORE people! 👀
A hashtag or the pound sign #, is a symbol placed in front of a word that is connected to your picture or post. 📸 It helps turning words into metadata tags and by doing so, it can help people find what they're looking for. 🔍 They basically connect your content to a specific topic, event, theme or conversation. 💬 It's a great way to gain more followers and connect with others who are interested in what you have to offer. You'll attract your ideal clients, showcase your work and bring traffic to your website. Therefore, hashtags can be an excellent and powerful tool for marketing your business! 📱
We know many entrepreneurs out there struggle with figuring out hashtags and how to make the most of them. 💻 We've been there! And if we're honest, with the constant changing algorithm and variety of topics, we're still figuring some of it out as we go! 💁♀️
📌 Here's our biggest tip about hashtags!!
You don’t wanna use big, giant hashtags like #love or even #ootd in your post, or at least don’t use that many, and here’s why... ✏️
When someone is hanging out in a hashtag by either clicking on it or searching for it, they’re taken to a page with two tabs: Top & Recent. ⏰ With hashtags that are being used millions of times a day, chances are your post isn’t going to show up in "Recent" for more than a minute. And unless your content is OFF THE CHAIN , it probably won’t show up in "Top" either which means it’s a wasted opportunity for someone to find your content that way. 🙇♀️
So, what's the trick?? 🪄
✅ Use hashtags that have between 10,000 & 500,000 uses. When they’re in this range it means:
#1.) They’re used often enough that people are hanging out there and
#2.) They’re not so big that your content will get buried in seconds.
Some other tips to remember when using them:
👉 You can use up to 30 for each post. It has been said that some of the highest conversions are post using at least 12-15 hashtags per post.
👉 Get specific. By using # ’s that are too common, your posts will be buried with others as we mentioned above. For example: #️⃣ workoutmotivation is better than #️⃣ workout. Meaning, avoid single word hashtags!
👉 Try to create only specific hashtags for your business that are related to your industry and niche. Think about what hashtags your CUSTOMERS would follow and use and use those.
👉 Use hashtags for the products and programs you’re promoting. You could even use hashtags in your stories like when you're doing a "get ready with me" video.
👉 Try not to use any hashtag words that are irrelevant to your post, it may come across as social media spamming. Plus the people searching those particular hashtags will see it's not relevant and your engagement will be low.
👉 Make sure to never use any spaces or punctuation in the words following your hashtag # symbol. It won't be read right. Also, take the time to make sure there are no duplicates!
👉 Switch it up. Continue to find and use new hashtags for the best result!
👉 Tag your physical location in your post, it could help you be discovered.
👉 AND of course, make sure your profile is on changed from private to public so that people can search and find you!

Other tips to consider!
There are definitely people who hang out on certain hashtags. When I’m curious what other copywriters / content creators are posting, or other health & wellness peeps are talking about, I go to those hashtags and read some of their content. 🧐
You could even look into online tools that will help you create, organize and store your hashtags. 📝 You can use Planoly to keep your hashtags and schedule out your content to post. You can join Hashtag Files to get access to your custom created hashtag list especially made for your niche. 🤓
🎉 Our BIGGEST piece of advice, though, is to test, test, test! Try different things, adjust, see how something new works, test, adjust, some more, etc.
