I know you've experienced multiple trials in both life and business. Perhaps it's past hardships, perhaps it's present suffering.
When my grief was so fresh and new as an unexpected widow, I could only put one foot in front of the other. As God allowed moments of coming up for air, Iād whisper, "Thank You, Lord," remembering that God was faithful and present. I was not thanking Him for taking my husband, but rather for comforting me amidst my pain.
Can you think of a time when God made it obvious to you that He heard YOUR cries?
Can you remember the most recent moment you praised Him with your whole being?
Let's check out Psalm 28:6-8 ~
āPraise be to the LORD,
For he has heard my cry for mercy.
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy
And I will give thanks to him in song.
The LORD is the strength of his people,
A fortress of salvation for his anointed one.ā
Our strength actually comes from the LORD, not ourselves. HE is our strength in weakness. We praise Him and ask Him for help.
During trials, we are designed to stay in sincere communion with Him.
āPraise be to the LORDā¦ā
Peace emerges from praise.
āThe LORD is my strengthā¦ā
God will uphold me.
āThe LORD is ā¦my shieldā¦ā
God will shelter me.
āMy heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in songā
We express gratitude to Him.
āThe LORD is the strength of his peopleā¦ā
Notice that this is different from the above verse (āmy strengthā); He is OUR strength as a body of believers. We are all frail and needy and He is more than enough for us!
If work or home life is difficult or oppressive right now, cry out to the One who is ready to listen and comfort! Praise Him for who He is and how He is. As your strength, shield, song, and salvation, He is your trustworthy fortress.
