Best Times for Posting!

Updated: Sep 10, 2021

WHEN to post 🙃⏰ ???

Ohhhh the joyous game of social media marketing... am I right🤪😫😅?

👉 Where to post?

👉 What to post?

👉 What hashtags to use?

👉 What days to post?

👉 What times to post?

👉 What actually IS the algorithm all about?!

Trust me when I say, if you’re struggling with these things, you are NOT alone! The platforms are overwhelming and just when you think you might have something figured out... it changes! 😒

Pretty sure most of us entrepreneurs want to know the secrets of social media success! 🙋‍♀️

Because posting times can directly influence who sees your content, knowing when to post plays a big part in the success of any social media strategy. In this blog, we will do our best to breakdown optimum times for Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest! 👍

🗓 Before diving into our top 3 platforms, let's talk about a general rule of thumb.

Could we agree that the internet has replaced a lot of evening TV watching? If that's the case, then think about those times for posting. Definitely not early Monday morning when people are trying to get back to work and are busy checking emails! Usually it'll be after dinner, around 7pm-11pm. People are tired from a long day of work and are winding down. They're glued to their phones watching videos, reels, stories, checking their groups, interacting with friends, looking for something to distract them, etc. The weekends are an exception and can be different. It may also depend on your target market and audience.

🗓 Here’s a few more general tips for deciding WHEN to hit post:

1. Think about when your target audience is online. Many people check their social A) Early in the morning BEFORE work B) On their lunch break or C) As they’re settling down for the evening.

2. Week days get more traffic than weekends. Most people are busy running errands, attending church, or enjoying family time.

3. Highest engagement tends to be Tuesday through Friday at around mid-day and evenings. Again, while on their lunch hour or winding down after dinner.

Alright, let's start with Instagram! Instagram is no doubt one of the most popular places to post engaging content. With thousands and thousands of people, influencers and businesses flooding news feeds. Most often only a select percentage of your audience will actually see your posts. Insane, right?! 🤯🥺 So one of the best ways to ensure you get seen is by posting at the optimal times.

Do you have your IG set up as a business account? If so you can easily go into your account to see what times your audience is most active. Simply hit the "Insights" icon from your profile go to the "Your Audience/Followers" section, then scroll down to the "Most Active Times". Scroll through the days, note the times, then post during those! Also, to reach a wider audience, be sure to tag your location and use hashtags. 🤗

Times: During 11:00am-1:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm

Next up, we're heading over to Facebook! Facebook also provides easy-to-use analytics tools (sometimes 😜). These tools allow you to track the behavior of your page visitors to determine the peak times based on your audience. Head to your Page Insights dashboard, select Posts on the left hand side and it will take you to a detailed breakdown of the days and times your fans are most active on Facebook. In general, as the weekend draws near more people check out from work and check in on their pages.

Lastly, Pinterest! Pinterest is the visual search platform that highly drives blog traffic. If you have an active blog, then you should at least be aiming to post on Pinterest every single day. Create about 5-10 correctly sized pins per blog post and then schedule them out. Re-pin from your blog site as well as a few top quality pins that interest you. But what we have found though is that most Pinterest users are weekend night-owl moms who are scrolling ideas after they've put the kiddos to bed and have some alone time to themselves.

🤩 Things to keep in mind to help you be seen and heard online:

You must find your optimum posting times.

You must post often & consistently.

You must plan ahead and be strategic.

You must post great, high quality content.

You must meaningfully engage with others.

BUT REMEMBER, even if it isn't "THE BEST" time to post doesn't mean you shouldn't post. While we are all for optimization to get seen and heard, if you got something to say and share - just do it! Kapeesh?! 👏
